This is an excellent photo essay in the Washington Post by young Swedish photographer Sebastian Sardi, shooting men, women and children extracting coal by hand in India’s Jharkand state. Sardi is hugely talented, and he documents a truly awful industry - awful in its effects on our climate, and awful in its effects on the people caught up in it.
