Overcharged - The High Cost of High Finance

This report by Gerald Epstein and Juan Antonio Montecino of the Roosevelt Institute quantifies the cost to the U.S. economy of overcharges by the financial industry, as well as the financial crisis of 2007-2008. Economists estimate that the economy will return to pre-2007 level in 2023. The financial industry has cost the U.S. economy trillions of dollars in lost value and misallocation of resources, value that could have been invested in more socially useful ways.
