The Same Heart is the third film in the child rights trilogy. In the course of fifteen years of filming in sub-Saharan Africa, South America, Mexico, India and Nepal, it is impossible not to notice that year after year, official development assistance funding dribbles in too little and too late.

But what if the funding mechanism were structured differently, so that the United Nations did not have to pass the hat for official development assistance, and beg nations to make good on their pledges? Suggesting a sustainable approach, THE SAME HEART follows Geoffrey Bakhuya, a dynamic Kenyan community organizer who devotes his life to making programs work from the bottom up. He is our man in the trenches.

From a father of eight who lives on less than $1 a day to Bill Gates, from an Irish nun supporting hundreds of AIDS orphans to a busy coffin-maker, from Princeton ethicist Peter Singer to current leading economists, to seven Nobel Peace Laureates, THE SAME HEART is an essay on extreme poverty’s effect on the world’s children, with solutions for their futures from some of the world’s most insightful minds.

If you have the same heart in the whole world, the rich nations to support the poor nations, not exploit them, this is something we would like to see. We want reformers, people to change this world to be a better place to live in.
— Geoffrey Bahuya, community organizer
