"The Sameheart" - A Film Viewing and Discussion to End Child Poverty

Description: In this final documentaryof a trilogy documenting chidren’s human rights: global child labor, homelessness and poverty, seven Nobel Laureates join top economists, ethicists and community activists in proposing a simple, elegant, achievable solution. The producers of the two previous films called "A powerful piece of journalism" by CNN and "Harrowing yet hopeful" by the New York Times, will be on hand to present their film and discuss its making and simple actions we all can take now to lift a billion children out of poverty. An event not to be missed!   The Same Heart is narrated by journalist Charlayne Hunter Gault.

Financial Transaction Tax Briefing at the Capitol Visitor Center

On September 27th, representatives from Public Citizen, The Child Labor Coalition along with Filmmaker Len Morris and Economist Dean Baker will participate in a briefing on the status of the financial transaction tax bills currently before Congress. The event occurs in the Congressional Meeting Room South and is open to the public.  An excerpt from The Same Heart will be shown as part of the briefing.

The Same Heart screens on opening night of the Peace on Earth Film Festival in the Claudia Cassidy Theatre at the Chicago Cultural Center. The Peace on Earth Film Festival shows the work of independent filmmakers with themes of peace, non-violence, social justice and eco balance. Admission to the festival is free.
